Google AI now gives selfie videos a customized background touch

…it’s not for everyone though.

Google’s AI team has released a new feature and it’s pretty cool indeed; they’re giving selfie videos a wacky background change, just like how you could do them on still photos. Although this has been a decades-old technology, it still is generally complicated and time-consuming, just as how superhero movies need the green screen as it works wonders.

It all started with Google’s segmentation technology which allows it to learn how to distinguish facial features – eyes, hair, nose and etc, from the rest, which results in having background swaps that are fast enough to keep up with the video.

But if you’re wondering whether this is released for public’s use, nope, at least not for now. It’s only available for a very small number of high-profile YouTubers with access to the YouTube stories service. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if they’ll roll out the feature for mass usage.
