Gmail’s new update will turn addresses and phone numbers into links

It is annoying when we need to copy and address or phone number on our phones as we have to drag the two ends to highlight the text that we want to copy. This issue can be seen in many apps but slowly, apps are turning phone numbers and addresses into blue links that will either open your default GPS app or phone dialer.

You will be glad to know that after so long Google has updated their Gmail app to do just that. It will now change numbers, addresses and links into clickable links opening them in your default apps. This would mean that users now don’t have to take the extra effort to convert these links into hyperlinks anymore, something most email apps are already capable of doing. Even Whatsapp now makes phone numbers and web addresses into hyperlinks.

The feature should already be enabled for you as at the time of writing, my Gmail app has highlighted numbers and addresses already. However, Google did mention that it could take up to three days to roll out completely to all users
