Gionee unveils premium M2017 with 7,000mAh monster battery

Emerging Chinese manufacturer Gionee is certainly no stranger when it comes to big battery phones. But this time, the company has put together a luxuriously designed battery beast of a smartphone. The M2017 packs mostly high end specs with a premium price tag slapped on it.

On the front of the Gionee M2017 phone is a 5.7-inch curved edge display with an impressive QHD resolution, housed by a neo-classical desgin combination of metal, leather and sapphire glass to give it a premium touch. Underneath the hood, the M2017 unfortunately only packs a Snapdragn 653 processor, but with a whopping 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The M2017 sports the trendy dual camera configuration of 13MP + 12MP, capable of 2x optical zoom and 8x digital zoom. The selfie camera is of 8 megapixels. The fingerprint reader on the front is of sapphire glass, and it supports mobile payments, like Alipay for example. The handset carries a staggering 7,000mAh worth of battery, which is apparently two 3.500mAh batteries fitted into the bulky chassis of the phablet itself. Gionee claims the phone to be capable of putting out 25.89 hours of video playback on a single charge.

A premium design, decently impressive internals including a whopping 7,000mAh battery will set you back 6,999 CNY (RM4,510.27). That’s a huge price to pay, but the Gionee M2017 phone has already been fully booked on Gionee’s website. The phone will be released on the 6th of January. How much would you pay for a premium experience like this.
