Free Windows 10 upgrades will end after July 29

Remember how Microsoft said that Windows 10 will be available as a free upgrade for a year? Well, that one year period is almost up as Microsoft has stated that after July 29th, you’re going to need to pay for your Windows 10 upgrade.

Once the 29th of July is over, you’re going to need to pay USD 119 to either get Windows 10 on a new device, or purchase a full version of Windows 10 Home. If you’re still on a fence, you have roughly three more months to upgrade before having to pay for it. For those who’ve already upgrade to Windows 10, Microsoft has stated that they will be releasing the Windows 10 Anniversary update during the Summer for free.

Overall, the free Windows 10 upgrade scheme has been a huge success for Microsoft. Roughly 300 million devices around the world are currently running Windows 10. Other notable stats includes Cortana having answered 6 billion questions since her debut on Windows 10, and the Edge browser having a recorded 63 billion minutes of use in March itself.
