Fitbit Charge 2, Flex 2 go official with refreshed software and design elements

A couple of months after Fitbit launched the Alta and Blaze fitness trackers, the company has updated a couple of its aged wearables with new ones, the successors to the Fitbit Charge HR and Flex respectively. Fitbit continues the legacy of their top selling fitness tracker with the Fitbit Charge 2, bringing in a couple of new features, and the Flex 2 with more customizability and swim proof features.

For starters, the Fitbit Charge 2 features a new and bigger design from its predecessor, especially its OLED display, which is 4 times larger than the Charge HR. The Charge 2 definitely has the essentials of what fitness junkies expect in a fitness tracker – All day activity, sleep tracking, automatic exercise recognition with SmartTrack, move reminders and a battery life of up to five days. Notable ones include PurePulse, which continuously tracks your heart rate to monitor your cardio fitness levels and provide guided breathing sessions. It also has the Connect GPS feature, which uses your phone’s GPS for more accurate and real time tracking when you put your feet to use.

On the other hand, the Fitbit Flex 2 features a build which is 30% smaller than its predecessor. The Flex 2 is now swim proof, with water resistance of up to 50 metres, and apart from SmartTrack, it can automatically track your swimming as well via the Fitbit app. Featuring a removable fitness tracker, the Flex 2 is customizable with a variety of bracelets and pendants, from Fitbit’s own designs to designer collections by PUBLIC SCHOOL, Simple Vera Wang for Kohl’s and Tory Burch, not forgetting the premium gold, rose gold or stainless steel options to choose from.

Currently only available in the United States, the Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Flex 2 come at prices of $149.95 (RM605.54) and $99.95 (RM403.62) respectively, sold on Fitbit’s website, Amazon and major retailers. The fitness trackers will be available globally starting September and October. What do you think about Fitbit’s newly designed wearables?

UPDATE: According to Fitbit Malaysia, the Fitbit Charge 2 and Flex 2 is officially priced at RM730 and RM450 respectively, prices are inclusive of 6% GST.
