First generation Pixel users are spotting Google Lens feature in the Photos app

When the first generation Pixel and Pixel XL launched, we were offered with an Android phone that was made with Google behind its back, creating one of the most powerful Android phones ever existed. Google has not forgotten its older children as they have recently announced that Google Lens is now out on some of the Pixel phones.

A number of users that already spotted the feature when they were in the Photos app, Google was very quiet about the release date and now it looks like its already out. Lens is a feature that Google created to be your Google Search for the surrounding you are in, it can also understand what is in your photos and videos and give you information on particular things that the feature picks up. Think of it as a Google Image search but without cropping the image so the search engine can focus on it.

According to a Reddit user, the Lens feature just appeared on Pixel XL’s Photos app without him needing to update the app or the phone. This could mean that the update for the feature is a server side update and those of you that do own the previous generation phones should regularly check the Photos app in case it is out for you.
