Facebook's Messenger app will begin testing advertisement systems in Australia and Thailand

Do you like ads in your chat applications? If you’ve said no, we might have some bad news for you. Within the coming weeks, Facebook will begin testing its advertisement system for its Messenger application.

When the advertisement system for Facebook Messenger launches, the feature will only be visible to users in Australia in Thailand. What this means is that we Malaysians won’t have to deal with the ads just yet. That being said, should Facebook believe that the test was concluded successfully, we could see a more global rollout of this system in the near future.

On top of that, judging from the screenshot that Facebook provided, it appears that the ad system will take up a not-insignificant chunk of space in the application. Here’s to hoping that the Facebook is able to fine-tune the ads to be less intrusive as possible.
