Facebook opens Malaysia-based office

Facebook has been getting rather aggressive in its expansion into Southeast Asia lately. Case in point, two weeks after launching its Philippines office, Facebook has just opened up its Malaysia office.

The opening of Facebook Malaysia marks the social media company’s 5th office in the region. Currently, Facebook has offices located in Indonesia, Thailand, the recently opened Philippines, as well as their Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore.

According to Facebook’s Asia-Pacific vice president Dan Neary, Facebook Malaysia will be focused on reaching out to businesses in the country, as more start to connect with customers via their Facebook pages. In short, Facebook Malaysia will be focused more on the corporate side of things rather than actively working on the social media service.

“I’m thrilled to share that Facebook has just opened an office in Malaysia. Our mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected – and 18M Malaysians are using Facebook every month. That is over 81% of everyone on the internet – connecting with family, friends, and businesses for the moments important to them,” says Neary.
