Facebook is implementing a Trending News section on their app

Facebook is adding a Trending News section on their app from the main navigation menu. Prior to this, the company has revamped their Trending Topics section which has become a frequently visited section in the app.

This section is focused on making it easier to see how publications are covering topics and what friends and public figures are saying about the matter. When you click the Trending Topic, you will see stories displayed in a carousel from which you can swipe to view all the news available. Previously, the trending news will be categorized into tags which will display the news when tapping on the search bar, now it will display actual news titles that are ranked in order of most to least trending based on the number on the featured image. It seems to be odd how they do not just merge both the Trending News and Trending Topics together as they would integrate much better together rather than separately.+

The redesign of the Trending Topics is currently being rolled out to iPhone and Android devices in the US, the link to Trending News was already available to iPhone users over the past few weeks and the Android version is still being tested.
