Facebook is developing glasses that can display VR, AR and MR content simultaneously

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

During F8 this year, Facebook announced that they will be producing a new AR glasses that are able to show VR, AR and MR or a combination of all of them. That was the last time we heard about this until today, according to a patent published on Thursday, the device may augment the real-world environment with computer generated elements and a frame that will present media to the user’s eyes.

They are calling the display Waveguide which has a two-dimensional scanner developed by Facebook owned Oculus VR company that is able to show us all these augments. Waveguide will use lasers, scanning mirrors and other elements to display the content and is done using lasers that emit light into the lens displays which will transform into video and images. In the future, users can further enjoy the AR features with audio via connected speakers or headphones.

This might sound very fancy and something that might give access to VR and AR content to everyone, but they also mentioned that we will only see tech like this in next five years like they always say, good things come to those who wait.
