Wireless charging is technically not fully wireless, sure you just need to place your phone on the dock and it will charge the phone, but that still does not enable you to walk around your house with your phone while it’s being charged. One company aims to change that by giving you a truly wireless charging experience that will work with any type of phone.

Energous has just announced that it has received FCC certification for power-at-a-distance wireless charring with its WattUp Mid Field transmitter. The transmitter will convert electricity into radio frequency and transfer that energy to nearby devices equipped with the receiver. This gives the truly wireless charging experience and works differently from how Qi wireless charging systems work. WattUp can charge multiple devices at the same time by using an app which manages connected devices to the charger. In theory, any device that has the receiver connected to will be able to use this technology.

The company does not have any retail ready devices but as you can see from the video above, the technology seems to work as adverticed, but we still dont know what are the charging speeds or if there is any setbacks this techology might have. They plan to show off the charger at CES 2018 which we will be getting more information on.
