DJI released new goggles meant for drone racing

DJI has released a new version of its DJI Goggles for drone racers which they are calling DJI Goggles RE, short for Racing Edition. The goggles look like a VR headset and will allow you to control the drone with just your head movements and allow you to see the drone’s point-of-view as long as you are in head-tracking gimbal mode.

The goggles are also compatible with non-DJI branded drones and third-party flight controllers like the D3 and Naze. It also supports Sphere panoramic viewing and video streaming with the OcuSync Video Transmission Module which offers 12 transmission channels to reduce interference when in a race with drones flying around. There is also an automatic frequency-hopping spread spectrum transmission which jumps to the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz channels depending on which has lesser noise. The transmission module can reach latencies as low as 50ms and has a resolution of 1280×960 with a maximum control range of 4.3 miles.

You have the option of linking up two pairs of the DJI Goggles RE so another person can watch and control a drone next to you. The goggles will ship at the end of November 2017 for $549 (RM2259.68), there is also an OcuSync Air System and DJI Goggles Backpack which will retail for $859 (RM3535.64).
