Disney+ Hotstar confirmed to launch in Malaysia

It’s official; Disney+ Hotstar will be launching in Malaysia soon. The streaming service has set up two accounts on social media in which its Instagram account is already verified, proving its authenticity.

What is Disney+ Hotstar and why isn’t it just Disney+?

Disney+ Hotstar is the combination of Disney+ and Hotstar, an Indian streaming service that has been bought over by the Walt Disney Company in 2019. This rebranded streaming service just launched in Indonesia four months ago and will be launching in Singapore on February 23, 2021. Unfortunately, we don’t have an official launch date for Malaysia, but it should be within the next five months.

The Malaysian Instagram account already verified

As of now, only the Instagram account of the service remains — the Facebook page has been removed. The only post by the Instagram account is a plain background with the word “Loading…” which is similar to what Disney+ Singapore posted on their official account on December 10, 2020. We also found job postings in Malaysia on Disney’s official site, so we can further confirm that the service will be launching locally.

Disney+ Hotstar will consists of all Disney+ Original shows, content from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and probably some of the local shows too.
