Discord is beta testing its upcoming digital game store

Discord is a platform for gaming groups and an easier way for you to communicate with your friends while playing games. It has set its self up as one of the best gaming communication tools and it looks like the company wants to expand to offer a unique feature to its users by setting up a game store in the Discord app.

Discord has a free model and a paid model called Nitro which gives users extra features that are not available to regular users. These users will the first to test out the store which is limited to 50,000 Canadian users and it will have launch titles like Saints Row: The Third, Metro: Last Light Redux, Super Meat Boy, Hollow Knight and Starbound. The games are hand-picked by employees and they plan to introduced First On Discord where selected Indie titles will be exclusive to the platform for 90 days. The company wants to set themselves apart from the likes of Steam by allowing users to play games with their friends even if they do not own the title.

As of now, there is no news on when they will launch the store to other parts of the world or when the beta testing will be over. Keep an eye out on your Discord client for the next couple of weeks.
