MediaTek has officially announced its latest flagship chipset — the Dimensity 9000 5G aimed to enhance computing performance, gaming, imaging, multimedia, and connectivity. This chipset might really rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
4nm octa-core processor
The Dimensity 9000 5G is the first of its kind to be built on TSMC’s 4nm process while also using a new Armv9 architecture. The CPU comes with eight cores featuring one Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores while the GPU is a 10-core Arm Mali-G710.
Graphics & camera
Phones that use this chip will be able to support up to 144Hz on WQHD+ displays or 180Hz on FHD+ displays. In terms of imaging, its 18-bit HDR Image Signal Processor (ISP) can simultaneously record 4K HDR videos from three cameras and guarantee you quality low light recordings with its “Super Night Video Recording”.
Gaming
With the Arm Mali-G710, the company claims that you’ll get a 35% increase in performance and 60% for power efficiency. There’s also a raytracing SDK that game developers can make use of to bring their game graphics to the next level if they want to.
Smartphones running on the Dimensity 9000 5G chipset are set to arrive around Q1 2022 and brands that will use this SoC include:
- Xiaomi
- OPPO
- vivo
- HONOR
So far, the phones confirmed to be adopting this SoC is the OPPO Find X series and the Redmi K50 series.
