The iPhone 7 is now official in Malaysia and Digi has celebrated the launch with a party at D’House yesterday, the telco has made tremendous effort in attracting a decent amount of crowd over, we were also present to find out what Digi has under its sleeve and how the company tends to differentiate itself in offering a unique launch experience for its customers. From my perspective point of view, the event was a memorable and thoughtful one, while it is also one of the more organised events that I’ve seen on Malaysia’s iPhone launch history.
Instead of having customers queuing up for the iPhone 7, Digi has allowed both new and existing subscribers to perform a walk-in purchase, there’s a dedicated registration counter with service advisors assisting the customers to sign up its postpaid plans, an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus counter was also set up so that customers could just buy their phone cases on the spot to avoid any accidents, and if you aren’t keen on getting the iPhone 7 just yet, Digi has even offered older iPhone models at an attractive price tag.
Since the sale of the iPhone 7 only goes live at the strike of midnight, Digi has been rather thoughtful of allowing its customers to roam around D’House for some fun activities, which includes an open theatre with bean bags to rest on to enjoy movies, two massage chairs to get you relaxed, and a couple of food trucks to quench your thirst and hunger while waiting for the iPhone 7 to go on sale. To be honest, I was rather impressed on how Digi has gone all way to keep its customers satisfied, it is simply commendable yet effortless.
As midnight struck, medias and customers were invited into a hall where the sale of the iPhone 7 begins to take place, Digi’s customer advisors were seen wearing gloves as they assist customers in unboxing and setting up their new phones without smudging the devices with fingerprints. In this case, I was really impressed as they do treat this as a rather premium purchasing experience.
The first two customers to sign up for Digi’s iPhone 7 deal both purchased the iPhone 7 Plus, they were both very excited about their new phones and have been waiting to get it since day 1. On top of that, we surveyed that most customers have in fact opted for the iPhone 7 Plus due to the better camera it has over the iPhone 7, Digi has given goodie bags worth RM277 to the first customers who purchased the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, while providing convenience of free GrabCar rides to and from their destinations. Overall, Digi’s iPhone 7 launch was a rather successful one and different from its previous launches, customers who can’t make it to the event can still walk into any Digi stores or dealers to sign up for the iPhone 7 if they are interested.
