After a long, long wait, Relic Entertainment has finally published the trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III.
While the trailer didn’t really go into much details as to how the game will play out, it did reveal that the game will, at the very least, have three playable factions: the Space Marines, the Eldar, and the Orkz.
PC Gamer has done a much more in-depth write up as to how Dawn of War III will be played, and judging by what they have written, it seems that DoWIII will have much more in common with the original Dawn of War than Dawn of War II. For starters, Dawn of War III will feature army sizes that are similar to the original game rather than the strike squads found in Dawn of War II. Also, base building will retun along with requisition points and power generators. Super units will also be available in the game and will come with its own special abilities that can (and will) turn the tide of battle. Right now, the only known super unit is the Space Marine’s Imperial Knight.
While the general gameplay feels like the original Dawn of War, Dawn of War III did implement some features from the second game. Elite units will be available in the game and can be levelled up on the battlefield, which is basically the Hero units from Dawn of War II. Also presumably returning are support powers where you can call death down on your enemies.
No timeline was given as to when we can expect Dawn of War III will be released so we’ll just have to wait until E3 rolls around for a solid release date.
