COMPUTEX 2024: Acer will integrate AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series Processors in Swift Series Laptops

Acer has unveiled plans to integrate the latest AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series processors into its Swift series of thin-and-light laptops, starting in Q3 2024. These new models will feature an array of enhancements, including additional CPU and GPU cores, and an ultra-efficient NPU, promising unprecedented speed and performance in Acer’s AI-driven PC offerings. Users will also benefit from a free update to Copilot+ PC experiences once available.

Jerry Kao, COO of Acer Inc., emphasized the impact of AI on consumer expectations across various PC uses, stating, “AI is continuing to reshape our customers’ expectations for PCs across gaming, content creation, professional, and everyday use. With AMD, we are delivering more AI-enabled experiences to our customers with unprecedented power and performance. In the coming months, we are excited to announce new systems powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors.”

Jack Huynh, senior vice president and GM of the Computing and Graphics Group at AMD, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, “We’re excited to partner with Acer across their thin-and-light next-generation AI PCs. We are creating a new category of AI PCs with Acer featuring our 3rd generation AMD Ryzen AI processors with the world’s most powerful NPU with 50 TOPS, the world’s fastest APU with next-gen Zen 5 architecture, and the world’s best graphics for gaming.”

The new AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors, based on the high-performance “Zen 5” architecture, will feature up to 12 high-performance cores and 24 threads, aiming to deliver next-level performance for ultrathin laptops. Leveraging AMD XDNA™ 2 technology, these processors provide up to 50+ NPU TOPS of AI processing performance, enabling users to deploy AI capabilities locally and run generative AI applications, Large Language Models, and AI assistants directly on upcoming Acer Swift laptops. This capability allows users to maximize creativity and productivity without the need for internet access and without sacrificing battery life.

Furthermore, the AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors are optimized for lower power consumption and excellent battery life, even under heavy computing workloads. With up to 36 MB cache for accelerated productivity and responsiveness, and built-in AMD Radeon™ 800M graphics, these processors also support high-resolution displays and accelerated encoding, whether or not a discrete graphics card is present.

Acer’s integration of AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors in the Swift series is set to redefine the performance and capabilities of thin-and-light laptops, catering to a wide range of user needs from gaming to professional applications.
