COMPUTEX 2024: Acer introduces SpatialLabs Eye Stereo 3D camera for content creation

Acer today announced the launch of the SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo camera, the newest addition to its innovative range of SpatialLabs 3D devices. This compact 3D camera is designed for photographers who wish to capture and view stunning stereoscopic images in immersive 3D, fully integrating with the existing SpatialLabs product lineup.

“The SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo Camera completes Acer’s stereoscopic 3D portfolio, providing solutions from content capturing and creation to display and interaction,” said Jerry Kao, COO of Acer Inc. “We hope to empower users to capture the world around them in stunning stereoscopic 3D through the new camera, and we’re excited to see the possibilities and the amazing content they will be able to create and share.”

The SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo Camera boasts 8 megapixels per eye resolution, a built-in selfie mirror, and a weatherproof exterior. Its pocket-sized design makes it perfect for capturing daily moments. The camera features an intuitive setup with carefully calibrated lens alignment and an advanced optical system for photographing subjects with greater 3D depth and detail.

For effortless image capturing, the SpatialLabs Eyes is equipped with auto and touch focus capabilities, enhanced with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) for smooth and steady footage. Manual mode options are available for seasoned photographers, allowing control over ISO, white balance, and shutter speed settings.

The camera’s design includes a shale black gloss finish with aluminum lining on the lens cap and selfie mirror enclosures, presenting a sophisticated look and feel. This design has earned the camera the prestigious 2024 Red Dot and iF Design Awards.

The SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo Camera offers more than just capturing stunning 3D images and videos. It supports real-time 3D streaming and storytelling, allowing users to share their content live on platforms like YouTube via the new Acer SpatialLabs Player 3.0. Additionally, a video call widget set for release in Q3 will enable high-resolution 3D video conferencing on apps such as Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, with customizable depth features for added realism during calls.

Users can review their 3D content on various devices, including Acer SpatialLabs laptops, VR/AR headsets, and 3D projectors. The camera also comes with a downloadable gallery feature for users to revisit their 3D portfolios.

Acer also announced an expanded array of developer tools, including the SpatialLabs Unreal 5.3 and Unity 2021.3 LTS and 2022.3 LTS plug-ins, available starting in June. The new SpatialLabs Model Viewer Pro application, compatible with SpatialLabs Pro devices, is designed to enhance 3D content workflow and user experiences, making it an ideal solution for professional presentations and 3D installations in showrooms.
