Dark mode has been an ongoing trend, and now it’s finally available for Google Chrome on Mac on its newest version, Chrome 73.
While previously you can download themes through the Chrome store to get yourself a DIY dark mode, the latest update will automatically turn your Chrome browser into dark mode if you’ve already enabled it in your Mac settings.
To enable dark mode on your Mac, just go to System Preferences and select General. You can then select Dark at the Appearance option, and your Chrome will appear in dark mode.
The update’s release note also state that “Windows support is on the way”, so if you’ll have to wait longer if you’re using Windows. Also, Chrome 73 finally supports Progressive Web Apps on Mac.
Previously, Google tried to implement dark mode for Google Assistant but received many negative feedbacks as the dark mode still had white backgrounds which contradicts purpose of a dark theme. Fortunately, Chrome 73 has no such issues; you can visit sites like Facebook, Twitter and others and each webpage will still appear in a complete dark mode.
