At CES 2024, realme has begun teasing medias the upcoming realme 12 Pro smartphone, as it would be the segment’s first smartphone to feature a periscope lens.
Meanwhile, realme has also commissioned watch designer Ollivier Savéo, who has previously collaborated with Swiss watch brands such as Rolex and Piaget, to design the camera ring of the realme 12 Pro to look like a premium watch bezel.
However, the highlight of the realme 12 Pro is really its periscope lens, as the brand teases that it can outperform the iPhone 15 Pro’s image quality at 3x zoom when it comes to portrait shots, this is due to its 1/2-inch sensor size that is twice the size of the telephoto sensor that’s on the iPhone 15 Pro, which can absorb more light and capture more details.
The main camera of the realme 12 Pro is the 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor that we have seen on many phones such as the OnePlus Nord 3 and Nothing Phone (2), it is optically stabilized and realme claims that it offers full-length lossless zoom of up to 6x.
One thing for sure is that the realme 12 Pro will be a Snapdragon powered device, as realme reveals that it incorporates Qualcomm’s image processing engine into its MasterShot Algorithm, which enables the camera to capture clear images and realizes cinematic portraits.
realme hasn’t announced dates for the Realme 12 series, but we are sure we won’t need to wait long for it.
