CES 2024: ASUS ROG Phone 8 goes official, launches 30th January 2024 in Malaysia

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has just unveiled the ROG Phone 8 series, a revolutionary step in mobile gaming that promises to redefine excellence in the field. This launch marks the most significant redesign in the series’ history, transforming the ROG Phone 8 from a pure gaming device into a versatile and futuristic premium phone. Its sleeker, lighter body and thinner bezels not only cater to gaming enthusiasts but also to a broader audience including streamers and content creators.

The ROG Phone 8 series showcases a striking new design, which is 15% thinner than its predecessors, without compromising on its renowned performance capabilities. These devices are more than just smartphones; they are symbols of sophistication and power, challenging traditional views of mobile gaming with their unparalleled performance and innovative design.

At the heart of the ROG Phone 8 series lies the formidable Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, complemented by 8533 Mbps LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The series introduces the Rapid-Cooling Conductor as part of its advanced GameCool 8 thermal design, ensuring efficient heat dissipation. The new AeroActive Cooler X provides enhanced cooling efficiency, reducing temperatures significantly. The series also boasts the distinction of being the world’s first IP68-compliant gaming smartphone, offering robust dust and water resistance.

The ROG Phone 8 Pro features a new 6.78” flexible AMOLED panel with adaptive refresh rates, supporting up to a 165 Hz refresh rate and a 720 Hz touch sampling rate for ultra-responsive gaming. Its peak brightness of 2500 nits ensures clear visibility even in bright sunlight. This exceptional display, tuned in collaboration with Pixelworks®, sets a new standard in color accuracy and visual quality.

The series’ advanced tri-camera system, including a 50 MP main camera and a 3X telephoto lens, opens up new photographic possibilities for gamers and creators alike. The 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 3.0 ensures smooth videos and sharp photos, while the 13 MP ultrawide camera features cutting-edge technology to minimize lens distortion. The 32 MP ultrawide selfie camera, with its wider field of view, is perfect for group selfies, even in low light.

The ROG Phone 8 series introduces four AI features, enhancing the gaming experience with functionalities like Background Mode and X Capture. AI Grabber and X Sense provide in-game assistance using machine learning and pattern recognition technologies. The series also includes Semantic Search and AI Wallpaper, alongside bidirectional noise-cancelation technology for clear audio.

The ROG Phone 8 series features unique customizable elements such as the Aura RGB Lighting logo and the AniMe Vision Mini-LED display, enabling users to express their individuality. AniMe Vision, exclusive to the Pro versions, displays animations and allows secret animations to be unlocked through phone interactions.

The ROG Phone 8 series is set to launch in Malaysia on January 30th, 2024, no pricing has been announced but we reckon it to be the same as the previous model.
