Three years back, HP brought OLED panel to its HP Spectre x360 13 but due to the high price of the panel, the laptop didn’t manage to attract much sales. However, HP is reattempting the introduction of the OLED panel by making it an optional display for the HP Spectre x360 15.
The HP Spectre x360 15 is coming with an OLED panel with HDR support so it’ll have a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, better colour accuracy (33% more colours than sRGB) and deeper blacks than an LCD panel, but at the same time it risks burn-in, ghosting and axis colour shifting.
Apart from the fact that the laptop will get an OLED panel, nothing much have been revealed. We’re still unsure of the resolution of the screen and whether the HDR support is HDR 10 or Dolby Vision, but we are expecting similar bezels size since the laptop will still come with a 15.6-inch screen.
The laptop is otherwise similar to the current HP Spectre x360 15 model’s specs, whereby it sports the 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics. Besides that, it comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD storage.
With an OLED panel, the laptop is expected to have better battery life but there hasn’t been any confirmed information on this aspect yet.
The price of the HP Spectre x360 15 with OLED panel has yet to be revealed, but it is expected to start shipping in March 2019.
