Celcom and Ericsson have conducted Malaysia’s first 5G trial

Celcom and Ericsson has just conducted Malaysia’s first ever 5G trial which was done on the 28GHz band in South East Asia, showing the commitment to bringing the best technologies to Malaysia. The trial was using 5G radio prototypes enabling them to achieve speeds up to 18Gbps and latency as low as 3ms . They also demonstrated futuristic 5G use cases such as robotic control, connected environment, virtual reality, Internet of Things applications and 4K streaming over 5G , from video capture at the server end, to playback on the 5G prototype device.

If all these test were successful up till it releases, then this would mean that the way we would consume content on our phones or computers will change as we would have access to connection speeds far surpassing current offered speeds. As long as Celcom stays on this path we would see a big change in 2020 when 5G officially releases for consumers, putting them on the path to bringing the best technologies to Malaysia.
