You can finally disable the Bixby button on your Samsung phone

Bixby is a rather decent virtual assistant on your beautiful Galaxy S8 and Note 8 after its recent update to include voice feedback, but let’s face it, it is nowhere as capable as more established assistants like Google Assistant, and having that dedicated hardware button on your Samsung phone assigned to it is really unnecessary, as in my case I’ve always mistakenly pressed it as the volume control button. Samsung has been reported to have issued a software update that allows users to disable the Bixby button for good, if it happens to be an inconvenience to you.

As reported by The Verge via Sammobile, the feature is now available on certain Galaxy S8 and Note 8 devices, it will eventually reach the rest of the devices soon enough with an update on the Bixby home app, which you will be able to toggle the Bixby button in the app’s settings menu. If you think this feature would give you the benefit of customizing that button for better use, you are out of luck as it will remain just a dummy button for you to jpress on it, Bixby Voice can still be activated by long holding the button.

If you are having trouble with the Bixby button, do look out for an update coming to your phone.
