BYD M6 EV MPV launches in Malaysia from RM109k

Sime Darby Beyond Auto has officially introduced the BYD M6 in Malaysia, making it the fourth electric vehicle (EV) from BYD to enter the local market. The M6, an all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), arrives fully imported (CBU) and is available in two variants: the Standard, priced at RM109,800, and the Extended, at RM123,800.

Design and Dimensions

The seven-seater M6 offers a sleek, modern design, measuring 4,710 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. Positioned as a larger option than the Perodua Alza/Toyota Veloz, its styling includes sharp front-end features, with full-width silver bar accents, multi-projector LED headlights, and a wing-shaped bumper design. The rear is highlighted by full-width taillights and a streamlined chrome strip, along with the simple BYD badging. Both variants ride on 17-inch Star Speed Y-spoke alloy wheels paired with 225/55 profile tires.

Performance and Battery

The M6 Standard is equipped with a 55.4 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor producing 163 PS (120 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. This delivers a range of up to 420 km (NEDC) and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 10.1 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Extended variant features a larger 71.8 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 530 km (NEDC) and a more powerful motor generating 204 PS (150 kW), bringing its acceleration time down to 8.6 seconds. Both models have the same top speed of 180 km/h and identical torque of 310 Nm.

Charging capabilities include up to 89 kW of DC fast charging for the Standard, while the Extended supports up to 115 kW, enabling a 10-80% charge in 40 minutes. Both models offer 7 kW of AC charging.

Interior and Features

Inside, the M6 blends the layout of its predecessor, the e6, with updates like a standard gear selector and a 12.8-inch rotating center display. Standard features include faux leather seats, keyless entry, push-button start, NFC key card access, a six-speaker audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a karaoke microphone function. The Extended model enhances comfort with power-adjustable ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, a powered tailgate, and wireless charging.

Safety and ADAS

Both variants come with six airbags, stability control, traction control, and a 360-degree camera. The Extended model includes the full Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, which offers autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

The BYD M6 is available in four exterior colors: Crystal White, Ink Stone Blue, Cosmos Black, and Harbour Grey, with a black/brown interior scheme. It comes with a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty, and an eight-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty.

With its competitive pricing and comprehensive features, the BYD M6 is poised to strengthen BYD’s presence in Malaysia’s growing EV market.
