Last generation’s console cycle was blessed with a quirky series called Borderlands. The original as well as its sequel were both introduced within three years of each other. When the current generation of consoles hit, Gearbox Software and 2K Games released Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. As the name suggests, that game isn’t a proper sequel to the first two games as it took place prior to the events in Borderlands 2.
Fans of the series had asked for the third installment and had to wait patiently for years. After many DLCs an offshoot Telltale Borderlands later, we finally have Borderlands 3 in the horizons.
Developers Gearbox Software have released a teaser trailer as well as a gameplay trailer confirming several recurring characters to appear in the third installment. One figure that caught the attention of fans was an all-grown-up Tiny Tina, who’s involvement in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel had players in stitches thanks to her quirky personality.
The gameplay trailer showcases improvements to the series’ signature comic book-style (not cel-shaded as confirmed by the developers) graphics. We could see a more expansive world that appears to be far more detailed than in older iterations of the game.
On top of that, the trailer also claims that there will be over one billion weapons to pick from – all of which are available as loot drops or at weapon stations.
No official release date has been announced yet but PC Gamer says that we can expect Borderlands 3 to hit store shelves before September this year.
