Blizzard DDOS-ed by Lizard Squad earlier today

Those of you who have tried to access Battle.net earlier today may have experience some difficulties trying to login to Blizzard’s online service. There’s a reason for that, and it is caused by hackers.

Notorious black hat hacking group Lizard Squad revealed that they were behind the DDOS attack that was targeted at Blizzard at around 9.49 AM today. The group announced on Twitter that they have managed to takedown Blizzard’s World of Warcraft servers, Diablo 3 servers, Starcraft 2 servers and Hearthstone servers.

Taking down servers aren’t the only thing that Lizard Squad has managed to do as the hacking group somehow managed to gain access to a Blizzard employee’s email as well as personal information of key Blizzard personnel, including Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.

Lizard Squad’s DDoS attack on Blizzard has since been halted as Blizzard has tweeted that all issues that were stemmed from the DDoS attack has since been resolved.

While the service appears to be stable for now, Lizard Squad may be planning further attacks on the gaming company thanks to an ominous tweet.
