If you haven’t known, BlackBerry has already stopped manufacturing its own phones. As a matter of fact, the company has been outsourcing when it comes to making and designing handsets that run on BB10 software, the recent ones being the DTEK50 and DTEK60 smartphones, both which were made by Alcatel with BlackBerry’s security features in them, but both run Android. However, BlackBerry CEO John Chen has claimed that a new BlackBerry smartphone with its signature QWERTY keyboard is on its way.
The physical QWERTY keyboard is undoubtedly the best smartphone feature by BlackBerry, with its software and security features following suit. “We have one keyboard phone I promised people,” Chen claimed. “It’s coming.” It is obvious that BlackBerry is making this one for old time’s sake and also its diehard fan base. CEO Chen has previously hinted at a QWERTY keyboard BlackBerry phone some time in the future, and has finally sealed the claim by confirming with major news outlet Bloomberg.
The previous BlackBerry handset with its own signature QWERTY keyboard was the BlackBerry Priv, a beautiful Android flagship smartphone by the seemingly struggling company. Having said that, the three latest BlackBerry smartphones happen to be operating on Android, so it won’t be a surprise if the next QWERTY keyboard handset by the company will run on the same OS over its own BB10 OS. A Nougat powered BlackBerry device with a QWERTY keyboard, possibly?
