Shortly after its US debut, the BlackBerry KEY2 has finally made its way to Malaysia today, the successor to the Blackberry KEY One now features a much improved hardware keyboard, beefier hardware internals and now comes with a dual rear camera, it also introduces the Speed Key, a universal shortcut key that allows users to quickly access apps, contacts and functions on over 52 keys.
The BlackBerry KEY2 is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor supported by 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage, users can expand the storage with a MicroSD card. The screen remains at 4.5-inches with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 1620 x 1080 resolution, the dual camera comprises of a wide-angle and telephoto 12MP sensor that supports optical zoom, portrait mode and 4K video recording. Lastly, a 3500mAh battery powers your all day workload with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Although it might not look like a huge change from its predecessor, the KEY2 features a stronger build with Series 7 Aluminum on its frame, the soft touch back is updated with a new diamond pattern which offers better grip and comfort, making this one of the most well built smartphone in its category. BlackBerry also claims that the new KEY2’s keyboard offers a more comfortable and accurate typing experience all thanks to a 20 percent increase in key height, the space bar continues to serve as a fingerprint sensor for security, while you can perform swipe gestures on the keyboard area to navigate around the interface.
The BlackBerry KEY2 comes with Android 8.1 and DTEK by BlackBerry software out of the box, it retails at RM2,599 and is distributed by Brightstar Malaysia, sales will begin on July 12th onwards at a all authorized retailers nationwide.
