BlackBerry could release a lower priced KEY2

The BlackBerry KEY2 may be the company’s best shot at making a business smartphone with a physical keyboard in 2018. Despite the attractive security features and beefier internals, the KEY2 still faces threat from Chinese competitors Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo for their strong market presence and pricing strategy.

Credible leaker Evan Blass has posted a photo of an assumed lower end KEY2, which is known as the BlackBerry Luna and assumed to be called the KEY2 Lite when it becomes official. Like the current KEY2, it would come with the same form factor with a rubberized back case, the interesting part is that the phone’s frame will come in red, blue and copper colors, making it look less serious than the KEY2’s Black and Silver option.

If this is to be made a more affordable device than the KEY2, then we should probably expect the device to come with slightly lower end hardware for lower costs, but let’s hope BlackBerry doesn’t compromise too much on performance to make a cheaper KEY2.
