Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro launches in Malaysia from RM2299 and RM3699 respectively

The Black Shark 5 series gaming phones have made their official debut in Malaysia, comprising the Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro, these are powerful gaming phones that feature a bold new design, improved performance and features over their predecessors, which one should definitely check out if you are on the hunt for a good gaming phone.

The Black Shark 5 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will be sold in storage configurations of 12GB+256GB and 16GB+256GB in Malaysia, which the latter is a rather interesting combo as most other phones would have been paired with a higher internal storage, and there’s no mention if this storage is split between an NVMe and UFS storage for faster performance.

Black Shark has combatted overheating of the SoC with two new vapor chambers with liquid cooling, which is the most sophisticated cooilng system ever to be inside a smartphone for sustained gaming performance. Other features include a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that refreshes at 144Hz, pop-up magnetic triggers, and a 4650mah dual-cell battery that supports 120W fast charging.

For budget gamers, the Black Shark 5 will still offer the needed performance for most modern mobile games with a Snapdragon 870 SoC, which comes in storage configurations of 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB, it also retains several features of its Pro sibiling such as its display, battery and pop-up magnetic triggers.

The Black Shark 5 series ships with the global version of JOYUI 13 based on Android 12, these phones have also been specially optimized to be used for Malaysian telco networks and will be one of the few gaming phones to support Malaysia’s 5G network.

In terms of pricing, the Black Shark 5 starts at RM2,299 for the 8GB+128GB model and tops out at RM2,699 for the 12GB+256GB model, while the Black Shark 5 Pro starts at RM3,699 for the 12GB+256GB model and RM3,999 for the 16GB+256GB model.

Preorders have already begun at Black Shark Malaysia’s official Shopee and Lazada Store, and regardless which storage model of these phones you have opted, you will receive a free tempered glass screen protector for both phones, a Lucifer T2 earbuds worth RM239 for the Black Shark 5, and a Lucifer T4 earbuds worth RM338 for the Black Shark 5 Pro.
