We know the Black Shark 3 is real hanks to chipset manufacturers Qualcomm, who’ve confirmed the phone’s usage of the Snapdragon 865 processor during their keynote presentation last week.

To add to that, Black Shark officially confirms the existence of the device on their Weibo page by divulging its charging specifications. Black Shark says that it has two batteries packed in the smartphone, but with a capacity of 4,720mAh, we think it’s really just one battery split into two.

The reason for this design is to allow what seems to be a magnetic charging mechanism that allows both battery packs to be charged simultaneously – Black Shark claims that with 65W fast charging, you can power 2,780mAh worth of battery in just 15 minutes. There’s also a pro variant that has a larger 5,000mAh pack.

Another nifty feature coming to the Black Shark 3 is the inclusion of physical shoulder buttons – this is something many FPS mobile gamers have been asking for – these ones are mechanical and sit flush with the device when not in use – call upon it and it springs up. Very cool.

We can see mechanical buttons fairing better than capacitive ones thanks to the tactile feedback it provides – which should give more control to players.

Elsewhere, the Black Shark 3 is set to have a 120Hz QHD display, a triple-camera setup, and up to 16GB RAM. With the Snapdragon 865 chipset, it’ll come with 5G support too. The Black Shark 3 is shaping up to be an interesting gaming smartphone – and could also be affordable going by Black Shark’s typical pricing strategies.
