Shingeki no Kyojin, or better known as Attack on Titan, will be coming on the PlayStation consoles, namely on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. This popular anime series took the world by storm, so it is no wonder that someone – Koei Tecmo Games in this instance, would eventually develop an Attack on Titan game for its hardcore fans.
Looking at the screenshots released, and since we are talking about Koei Tecmo who published hack-and-slash games like Dynasty Warriors, I would expect Attack on Titan to be a hack-and-slash as well, since they have categorised it as an action game. However, the art looks very much like the anime, so here’s to hoping the characters won’t end up becoming some stiff 3D models.
Attack on Titan will be produced by Koinuma Hisashi and directed by Kitamura Tomoyuki, both famous for their involvement in Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series. According to Koinuma, Attack on Titan will follow the story of the original author Hajime Isayama, and instead of a defeat-the-bad-guy-to-continue-story kind of gameplay, Koei Tecmo mentioned that it will be an action game where you will understand the story as you play the game. Sounds so Dynasty Warrior-ish though.
The game will be made for PlayStation 4 and then adjusted for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. According to Koei Tecmo, Attack on Titan is slated to be released in Japan on Winter 2015, while for North America and Europe in 2016.
