The ASUS ZenFone V packs a 2016 flagship processor

While Taiwanese manufacturer ASUS has launched most of its major smartphones for 2017, it has also quietly unveiled another handset in the US for the nation’s vast smartphone market. The ASUS ZenFone V makes its debut exclusively with US major carrier Verizon, with pretty respectable specs by today’s standards.

For starters, the ZenFone V sports a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display on the front, which should make colors pop including deep blacks. Underneath the hood is a more familiar Snapdragon 820 processor, the same one which powered most flagships from early 2016 like the Galaxy S7 series, LG G5, the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the OnePlus 3. Running alongside the slightly aged chipset are 4GB of RAM, plus 32GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the ZenFone V features a 23MP camera equipped with EIS plus the company’s TriTech technology which enables the shooter to focus in an extremely short 0.03 seconds. The front facing selfie camera shouldn’t disappoint as well at 8 megapixels. The phone comes packing a 3,000mAh battery which supports fast charge of up to 60% in 37 minutes.

The ASUS ZenFone V will be released soon to the US market under Verizon. It carries an affordable price tag of $384 (RM 1,608.19).
