ASUS ZenFone 6 confirmed to feature Snapdragon 855 SoC and 5000mAh battery

Popular Taiwanese PC hardware and smartphone maker ASUS is set to unveil its next flagship smartphone on May 16. Ahead of the official launch event next week, the brand has posted a new image on Twitter confirming that the ZenFone 6 will be powered by a 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset under the hood.

In addition to the chipset, the image confirms a few other details as well. These include a triple-slot configuration for SIM and microSD cards, notification LED light, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a smart key. On Instagram, an ASUS executive revealed some more key highlights of the upcoming ZenFone 6 using Morse code. The code tell us the upcoming ASUS flagship smartphone will have a 48MP + 13MP dual-camera setup and a massive 5000mAh capacity battery.

Previous leaks have suggested the ZenFone 6 will adopt a notch-less display, although no actual renders of the phone have been leaked online so far. Along with the ZenFone 6, ASUS is expected to announce a few more smartphones at its launch event in Valencia, Spain on May 16.

Since the ASUS ZenFone 5z was launched as a direct rival to the OnePlus 6 last year, we can expect the ZenFone 6 to be pitted against the OnePlus 7. Both the ASUS ZenFone 6 and OnePlus 7 are likely to be significantly more affordable than flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Huawei P30 Pro.
