ASUS ROG announced the latest addition to their Strix gaming laptop lineup with the Strix SCAR II. It comes with a 17.3-inch display alongside powerful components like an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics chip.
The Strix SCAR II was designed with the FPS gamer in mind, it comes with a contrasting Kevlar and camouflage texture. The Gun Metal lid has a brushed finish and the copper cooling fins have RGB lighting that leaks through the vents. The laptop supports AURA Sync which can be customized across seven zones, four for the keyboard, two located within the light bar and the last lies within the ROG logo on the lid.
The laptop comes equipped with an Intel Core i7-8750H processor and gaming is powered by the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. It also comes with top of the line connectivity hardware like Intel’s latest 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi which uses faster frequency for link speeds up to 1.73Gbps. For I/O, the Strix SCAR II comes with four USB Type-A ports, USB Type-C port, mini display port which supports G-Sync monitors and an HDMI 2.0 port for you to extend the display to a 4K UHD screen. For quick read and write speeds, it comes with an M.2 NVMe SSD alongside a 1TB solid-state hybrid drive.
To keep the laptop cool, Asus has implemented the HyperCool Pro cooling system that spreads across three heatsinks and two fans, one heatsink is dedicated to the GPU and the other two cools the overall laptop.
Lastly, is the addition of Armoury Crate, a unified platform that gives vital information to the user like system settings and Aura Sync lighting. Users can save four different profiles for their needs and it is extended to the Mobile Dashboard which allows you to monitor the laptop using your Android or iOS device.
