ASUS ROG Phone 7 series goes official with improved cooling and larger speakers

ASUS has announced the ROG Phone 7 series at a virtual launch event, similar to the previous series, it comprises the regular ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that offers up to 15% faster and power efficiency than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of USB 4.0 storage.

The phone’s design language is slightly redesigned from its predcessor, featuring a new two-tone and camera bump design, the ROG Phone 7 series sport a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz of touch-sampling rate, it also has a Delta E<1 color accuracy that’s great for content consumption.

Exclusive to the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, the ROG Vision is a unique matrix color display that resides on the rear that shows unique animations asuch as charging status, inicoming calls, X Mode activation and more, while like the previous model, gamers can customize the display with animations and text of their choice.

To perform better than the rest, the ROG Phone 7 series feature huge improvements in thermal management, where it sports a GameCool 7 thermal system to cool the CPU from all directions, by utilizing a three-pronged approach, the Boron Nitride thermal compound on one side of the CPU helps reduce throttling in short gaming sessions, while mid-length gaming sessions are taken care by the bigger vapor chamber and graphite sheets on the othere side of the CPU, and for the extreme gamers, the ROG Phone 7 series can be equipped with the new AeroActive Cooler 7 that has its fan positioned right over the CPU module.

On the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, cooling is further enhanced with the AeroActive Portal, which is an air inlet that activates automatically when the AeroActive Cooler is attached, directing a constant flow of cool air from the cooler onto the cooling fins of the vapor chamber, which increases thermal efficiency by 20%.

In terms of sound, the ROG Phone 7 series are equipped with twin front-firing 12×16 mm speakers, which delivers 50% more volume than the previous model. A super-linear 13 x 38mm sub-woofer resides in the AeroActive 7 cooler helps enhance bass volume by 77% for an unrivalled 2.1 sound in games when attached to the phone, which ASUS ROG has worked together with audio expert Dirac to make this possible.

For those who prefers wired audio, the ROG Phone 7 series still retains the 3.5mm audio jack that supports Dirac Virtuo for Headphone spatial audio, while Bluetooth audio is enhanced by Snapdragon Sound technology that enables super low latency Hi-Fi Bluetooth audio.
