ASUS ROG introduces “desktop replacement” ROG Mothership, new ROG Huracan PC, and a new colour for the Zephyrus and Strix

ASUS ROG’s media launch today showcased a host of interesting devices, a laptop-PC hybrid, a new colour, as well as an affordable powerhouse pre-built PC.

The crème de la crème of the lot today was the “desktop replacement” ROG Mothership – think laptop, but its monitor and keyboard can be separated – all while packing PC-like specs. Unlike a conventional laptop, all the hardware is packed right behind the 17.3-inch display.

The module is propped on a stand that’s adjustable depending on the angle you want to view it at. The fans are placed right at top portion of the back panel, so there’s little to no obstruction.

The keyboard is detachable and features a Zephyrus-like trackpad placement – to the far right of the module. When attached, the entire device can be folded like a laptop. When detached, you can of course replace it with your own keyboard via a USB. The keyboard is of course RGB backlit – wouldn’t call it a 2019 gaming rig otherwise right?

Inside, expect an Intel Core i9-9980HK, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 8GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB of PCIE NVME M.2 SSD, and a whopping 76WHr battery. The ROG Mothership is set to arrive mid-July and is priced at an eye-watering RM26,999.

Next up is the ROG G21 Huracan desktop PC. It features aggressive lines and corners, while a detachable side cover allows better cooling.

The 13-litre chassis is packed with an Intel Core i5-9400, an Nvidia GeForce RTX2080 8GB, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, and a 2TB HDD. The ROG G21 Huracan is expected to arrive some time this August as is priced from RM6,299.

Lastly, ROG introduces a new Glacier Blue colour for the ROG Zephyrus S GX502G and the ROG Strix G G531G. These new colours are set to be available on the end of August and is priced at RM8,899 and RM3,899 respectively.
