ASUS releases Android 12 update timeline

ASUS smartphones have been our absolute favorite recommendations for the past few years, and although the company no longer releases a slew of them like they used to, they still make really good flagships such as the recent ZenFone 8 and the gaming centric ROG Phone 5s series, and here’s the good news, Android 12 is coming to these devices in the next few months.

The Android 12 rollout will begin on December 2021, which the ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip will be the first to receive the update with improved ASUS battery and performance-management features.

ASUS also claims that the update will bring ZenUI-specific changes that allow easier navigation, streamlined control panels, increased visibility for better control and more customization options on ZenFones.

As for other models, ASUS is slated to rollout the Android 12 update to the ROG Phone 5/5s series from 2022 1Q, older phone models such as the ZenFone 7 series and ROG Phone 3 will receive it from 2022 1H.

With this rollout, it remains unclear why ASUS has decided to leave out devices such as the ROG Phone 2, which is only a 2-year old device that sports a pretty capable Snapdragon 855+ SoC, but nevertheless, we hope that ASUS continues to keep up the good work in bringing software and timely security updates to their phones.
