AppleCare now replaces batteries that is under 80% of capacity

Apple recently updated the terms of its AppleCare+ Protection Plan for iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple Watch to cover batteries that retain less than 80% of their original capacity within the extended warranty period, and for the MacBook, MacBook air and MacBook Pro will receive the same policy on the AppleCare Protection.

Previously, Apple only will replace defective batteries under the old terms of the AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac, but now you can replace a MacBook’s battery at no charge if it retains less than 80% of its original capacity. The difference between the new terms and old terms is you are able to replace the notebook battery that retain less than 80 percent of the original capacity at no charge if you purchase an apple One Year Limited Warranty or AppleCare Protection plans.

However, in the old terms you only can replace the battery if its defect and does not cover batteries that have stopped working or exhibiting diminished capacity due to normal use except when it is the result of a manufacturing defect.
This will be a very good deal if you extend the notebook’s warranty coverage and telephone technical supports to three years from the original date of purchase because without this you might need to spend more than USD 200 to replace any defective parts.

You can purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan over here starting from RM 105.
