Apple is working on an iPhone SE 2 behind the scenes

While all eyes are on the unveiling of the iPhone 8 later this year by Apple, it appears that the Cupertino giant is working on the iPhone SE’s successor, leading to a possible launch in the future. The iPhone SE has proved to be a popular device among Apple’s premium flagships, catering to a new market of customers looking for more affordable Apple devices.

Wistron, the manufacturer responsible for making the iPhone SE beginning roughly three months ago is said to be lending a hand for the production of the iPhone SE 2 as well. The iPhone SE 2 is rumored to be launched in Q1 next year, with availability starting off in India, where Wistron’s facility is located.

So far, rumors point to either a 4-inch or 4.2-inch display for the iPhone SE 2. Underneath the hood, the compact iPhone is said to be powered by Apple’s A10 chipset and 2GB of RAM. It is also tipped to feature a 12MP rear camera, the same shooter used by the current iPhone 7, along with a 5MP selfie camera. The iPhone SE 2 will most likely run on iOS 11 out of the box. The newer second generation Touch ID will be making its way to the phone, which will be a welcome bonus feature.

With the pending launch of the iPhone 8, an iPhone SE 2 in early 2018 will definitely give Apple the extra boost in sales over the competition. Will you be interested in an iPhone SE 2?
