Apple Watch Series 9 brings improved performance, brighter display and gesture controls

The Apple Watch Series 9 has been officially unveiled as the first product in Apple’s Wonderlust event.

As usual, Apple’s latest smartwatch looks identical to its predecessor with most of the changes happening under the hood, where the new S9 SiP powers the watch with improved performance and enables a host of new features, it also has a new display that goes up to 2000 nits and down to 1 nit in low lighting conditions.

With the new S9 SiP, Apple boasted better machine learning capabilities on the Series 9 that results in better activity tracking and insights and also enabling on-device Siri, users will no longer need to be connected to the Internet to use Siri to do basic stuff such as starting a workout.

One of the more interesting additions is the support for double tap gestures, which is enabled by the neural engine within the S9 SiP and allows the user to perform a double tap with their fingers to do actions such as answering a phone call, though this feature will only be available via a software update coming in October.

The Apple Watch Series 9 will be available in aluminum colors of pink, starlight, silver and (PRODUCT)RED, while the stainless-steel case model will come in colors of gold, silver and graphite, it starts at RM1,899 in Malaysia.
