Apple has officially announced the option for developers to sell Mac and iOS apps in a single universal purchase so Apple users can enjoy their apps across different platforms.
Simply put, this means that when Apple users purchase an app on the App Store, they can enjoy said app and its in-app purchases across all iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.
For developers, they’ll need to ensure that their apps are under a single bundle ID — but they can still come with different version numbers and build strings. The app will also be recognised as a universal purchase only after App Review approve of at least two platform versions.
This should be particularly useful for those who are always switching between their iPads and Macs as it allows them to use similar apps on different platforms.
