Apple updates iPad Pro with ultrawide camera and LiDAR Scanner

Apple may not have the chance to throw an event for its products and WWDC due to COVID-19, but it has definitely brighten up the tech scene with the all new iPad Pro, you still get two screen sizes – 11-inch and 12.9 inches, but Apple has done a lot of work under the hood to make it a worthy upgrade from the previous model.

Powered by a new A12Z Bionic chip, Apple now boldly claims that the iPad Pro is now faster than most Windows PC laptops, something that reviewers can testify since the A11 Bionic chip as it is on par as a Core i5 laptop CPU, it still has an 8-core GPU and a powerful Neural Engine to run next-generation apps, while still maintaining the same 10-hour battery life. The new iPad Pro’s camera system gets updated with a 12MP wide camera and a 10MP ultrawide camera, what’s interesting is the new inclusion of the LiDAR Scanner, which is able to measure the distance to surrounding objects up to 5 metres away, operating at the photon level at nano-second speeds and enhanced by computer vision algorithms on the A12Z Bionic for more detailed understanding of a scene, this will significantly improve AR experience with a more accurate depth measurement.

What has gone even more Pro is the iPad Pro’s improved quad speaker system and five studio-quality microphones, which Apple claims the latter would be able to capture super clean audio and make it a versatile mobile studio for creative pros such as film makers and podcasters.

Last but not least, the new iPad Pro now comes with a new optional Magic Keyboard, like the previous smart keyboard cover, it attaches to the iPad Pro magnetically but features a new floating design that allows versatile viewing angles of up to 130 degrees, along with a USB-C port that lets you charge the iPad Pro and connecting peripherals, making it extremely versatile for both lap and table operations, the keys are now backlit with a scissor mechanism that’s found on the new MacBook Pro, a trackpad is also present that will support Cursor on iPadOS 13.4, which is essentially a mouse cursor that lets you work better on productivity apps.
