The recent iPhones from Apple seem to fare pretty bad battery life according to many users complaints, and Apple has been reportedly trying to source for new chip makers for its display to improve battery life. According to source, Apple is set to acquire Renesas SP Drivers, a Renesas Electronics joint venture with Sharp and Taiwan’s Powerchip for a 55% stake for an estimate 50 billion yen ($479 billion). Renesas’ technology is famous for its improvement in image sharpness while maintaining power efficiency.
If the acquisition happens, we may be seeing future iPhones with better display quality and improved battery life despite having small mAh on it. Let’s hope Apple introduces a new type of Retina display for its new iPhone this year.
