Apple refreshes Macbook, with additional Rose Gold model

The time has come where Apple updates one of its Macbook series once again. This time, it’s the 12-inch Macbook, receiving some refreshes in terms of processors, graphics performance, better battery life and a faster flash storage. This refresh comes as a surprise more than a month before Apple’s WWDC set for June later this year.

Apple is retaining the same form factor of the Macbook from last year, with its already riduclously thin and compact size. Weighing at 2 pounds and boasting a thickness of only 13.1mm, the Macbook proved to be quite the seller although it only packed an Intel Core M processor underneath the hood. This year’s refresh still feature Intel Core M processors, but of the sixth-generation. The dual core processors are clocked at 1.3GHz and can be turbo boosted up to 3.1GHz, also coming with a faster 1866 MHz memory. Aside from that, Apple claims up to 25 percent faster graphics performance with new Intel GPU’s, namely Intel HD Graphics 515. The refresh also applies to the PCIe-based flash storage, which is now faster.

Apple has pushed the battery life of the Macbook to further heights, with 10 hours of web browsing and 11 hours of movie playback on iTunes, making it more power efficient on the go. In typical Apple fashion, the company has added a new color option to their Macbook lineup and unfortunately, Apple is still insistent on the color being Rose Gold instead of Pink, probably to maintain the false glamour from the beginning. The Rose Gold model joins the previous color offerings of the 12-inch Macbook – Gold, Silver and Space Gray. On top of that, Apple has made 8GB as the baseline memory across their 13-inch Macbook Air’s.

The Macbook comes with an Intel Core m3 processor with 256GB of PCIe-based flash storage for RM 5,499 and an Intel Core m5 processor with 512GB of PCIe-based flash storage for RM 6,699. The Macbook also comes at a configure-to-order option with the 1.3GHz clocked Intel Core m7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz at RM 7,389. Visit Apple’s website here for more info.
