Apple launches M3 MacBook Air from RM5199

The MacBook line up has finally gotten more consistent with the introduction of the M3 powered MacBook Air, available in 13-inch and 15-inch models, they start at RM5,199 and RM6,199 respectively, while the M2 chip is still being offered on the 13-inch model from RM4,799.

Similar to the M3 MacBook Pro, the M3 chip is built on a 3nm process, it is up to 60% faster than the M1 chip and 13X faster than the Intel-based MacBook Air, Apple has oddly decided not to mention the performance comparison figures with the previous M2 chip, but in most cases, you should still expect a minor performance bump when compared to the M2 chip.

The base M3 MacBook Air 13-inch will feature an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU setup instead of a 10-core GPU setup that’s on the base M3 MacBook Pro, while the M3 MacBook Air 15-inch will be fitted with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU setup. Both 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Airs can be configured up to 24GB of Unified Memory and 2TB of storage.

Battery life of both M3 MacBook Airs remain at up to 18 hours on a single charge, you get the same 1080p FaceTime HD camera for video calls, while WiFi speeds are now faster with WiFi 6E and compared to the M2 MacBook Air, the M3 models can now connect up to two external displays.

Apple hasn’t announced the availability of the M3 MacBook Air in Malaysia at this time of writing.
