Apple launches iPad 2021 and iPad mini 2021: Priced from RM1,499

Apple has just announced this year’s lineup of iPads, which includes a refresh of the regular iPad and portable iPad mini.

iPad 2021

The 10.2-inch tablet now packs an A13 Bionic chipset that Apple claims is 12% more powerful than the A12. On top of that, you now get a 12MP utlrawide selfie shooter that now supports Center Stage, which was seen in last year’s iPad Pro – this feature automatically tracks faces and people and adjusts the camera frame to fit all participants.

You still get a True Tone display and Touch ID; and you can also use the first-gen Apple Pencil too. There’s support for the brand’s own Smart Keyboard, and selected third-party ones. The tablet also runs on iPadOS 15 which brings features like Live Text, Auto Translate in chats, system-wide Quick Notes and more.

There’s 22W of charging via USB-C and Apple claims you get an all-day battery life span with the 2021 iPad.

The device is priced from RM1,499 (64GB) for the WiFi-only model, while the WiFi + Cellular version will cost RM2,119. The iPad 2021 comes in silver and space grey.

iPad mini 2021

This 8.3-inch tablet now packs an A15 Bionic chip, supports the second-gen Apple Pencil, a 12MP ultrawide selfie camera and Center Stage, USB-C charging, and 5G connectivity.

The Liquid Retina display now sports thinner bezels and offers up to 500 nits of max brightness, P3 wide colour gamut, an anti-reflective screen coating, and True Tone support.

The Touch ID button is now placed on the top right frame of the iPad mini, and the device runs on iPadOS 15, plus stereo audio in landscape mode.

The iPad mini 2021 is priced from RM2,299 for the WiFi-only model, and RM2,949 for the WiFi + Cellular version. You can get it with 64GB or 256GB of internal storage. The tablet comes in a host of new colours, such as pink, starlight, purple, and space grey.
