Apple has given up on the iPhone mini

In a recent exclusive report by 9to5Mac, the next iPhone 14 lineup will comprise of four models without of a mini model within the lineup. Instead, Apple is expected to release two iPhone 14 models in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes, along with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Discontinuing the iPhone mini hasn’t been a surprise since Apple has received underwhelming response since the iPhone 12 mini, which could be attributed to the iPhone SE for its much cheaper price tag and smaller display, most people would have already gotten used to Apple’s new larger display form as well as the little price difference to the regular iPhone, there’s no reason to pay for a premium price tag for Apple’s compact iPhone.

In other details, 9to5Mac has shared that the regular iPhone 14 will continue to ship with the current gen A15 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will receive a more powerful A15X or A16 chip and taller displays to accomodate a new ‘Notch + Pill’ design.

While its sad to see the mini going into Apple history that fast, we won’t be surprised if it will be resurrected as a new iPhone SE in the future. So long, you will be missed.
